Der Muttertag - Geschichte und Bedeutung
Die Geschichte des Muttertages
An diese Formen des Mutterkults haben Ann Maria Reeves Jarvis und ihre Mitkдmpferinnen sicherlich nicht gedacht, als sie sich zusammenschlossen, um aktuelle Fragen unter Mьttern zu diskutieren. Als eigentliche Begrьnderin wird die Tochter Anna Marie Jarvis genannt, die mit dem Memorial Mothers Day Meeting den ersten Muttertag feierte, in Erinnerung an ihre Mutter.
Die Methodistin schuf einen offiziellen Ehrentag fьr alle Mьtter und wandte sich mit diesem Wunsch an zahlreiche Vereine, Geschдftsleute, Geistliche sowie Politiker. Im Jahr 1914 galt der Muttertag erstmalig als nationaler US-Feiertag. Allmдhlich kam es zur stetigen Kommerzialisierung dieses Tages, was Ann Jarvis als Rьckschlag fьr ihre eigentliche Motivation ansah. SchlieЯlich versuchte sie, ihre Mitstreiterinnen und andere Menschen davon zu ьberzeugen, dass der Feiertag wieder abgeschafft werden mьsste. Damit hatte sie jedoch keinen Erfolg.
Die Mother’s Day International Association, die in 1912 initiiert wurde, hatte das Ziel, den Ehrentag der Mьtter auf weitere Lдnder auszuweiten. Die Englдnder ьbernahmen den Muttertag als erstes, danach kam er in die Schweiz (1917), ein bzw. zwei Jahre spдter nach Finnland, Norwegen und Schweden und 1924 nach Цsterreich.
Tradition und Moderne – die Bedeutung des Muttertages
Sicherlich ist der Muttertag heute eher der Tag der Blumenwьnsche, doch so lange die Mutter und ihre Kinder sich gerne haben, ist das in Ordnung. Typische Geschenke zum Muttertag sind beispielsweise Blumen, Schokolade, Geschenkboxen fьr Wellness, aber auch Bьcher und Gutscheine aller Art sind sehr beliebt.
Noch immer spielen die Zeiten der Frauenrechtlerinnen mit in die Bedeutung des Muttertags hinein. Das Verhдltnis von Frauen- und Mдnnerbereichen ist trotz aller Emanzipation nicht ausgewogen. In der Durchschnittsfamilie ist es tatsдchlich die Frau, die sich grцЯtenteils um den Haushalt kьmmert und fьr die Kinder da ist. Der Muttertag lдsst die Familienmitglieder innehalten und ьber dieses Thema nachdenken. Natьrlich hilft es nicht, der Frau an einem einzigen Tag im Jahr die Arbeit abzunehmen. Es ist lediglich ein Zeichen dafьr, dass ihr Umsorgen gewьrdigt wird.
Was ansonsten als selbstverstдndlich gilt, wird an diesem Ehrentag als besondere Leistung anerkannt. Genau in dieser Anerkennung, die deutlich gezeigt wird, liegen die Motivation und der Reiz des Muttertags. Auch Mьtter, die behaupten, dass sie diese Aufmerksamkeit nicht brauchen, freuen sich, wenn die Familie ihre Liebe und Dankbarkeit zeigt, sei es in Form von Geschenken oder hilfreichen Handreichungen. Besonders angenehm ist das Zusammenleben aber erst dann, wenn es mehrere solcher Tage gibt, also nicht nur den einen Ehrentag, an dem die Familie im Haushalt behilflich ist, sondern auch weitere Tage im Jahr, an denen alle mit anpacken. Als angenehmer Anlass, um gemьtlich einen Tag miteinander zu verbringen, ist der Muttertag auf jeden Fall eine schцne Sache.
Der Muttertag ist nicht mit dem Weltfrauentag, der auch als internationaler Frauentag bezeichnet wird, zu verwechseln. Dieser wird am 08.03. jeden Jahres begangen und dient der politischen Einforderung der Frauenrechte.
Der zweite Film namens "Muttertag" ist ein цsterreichische Inszenierung aus dem Jahr 1992, welche das Kleinbьrgertum in Wien auf die Schippe nimmt. Grund fьr die Namensgebung war, dass dies durch Ereignisse rund um den Muttertag karikiert wird.

Was ist Muttertag bzw. Bedeutung von Muttertag
Der Muttertag wird grundsätzlich am zweiten Mai-Sonntag gefeiert. Er soll in erster Linie dem Gedenken der Leistungen von Müttern und der Ehrung der Mutterschaft im Allgemeinen gelten. Letztendlich haben aber gerade Mütter an diesem Feiertag oftmals besonders viel Arbeit. However, there are parents who disregard the gender of their babies and opt instead for mono-gender (unisex) names (for example, Chris, Erin, Lee, Robin, Pat, and a lot more). Most individuals would thus argue that requiring a child to explain his or her gender by reason of his gender-neutral name is a bothersome or annoying.

Der Muttertag findet in den meisten europдischen Lдndern am 2. Sonntag im Mai statt. Daher ist das Datum des Muttertags nicht jedes Jahr identisch. Im Jahr 2010 findet der Muttertag am 9. Mai statt. Es handelt sich nicht um einen gesetzlichen Feiertag, aber des er immer auf einen Sonntag fдllt, bleibt genug Zeit, der eigenen Mutter einen Besuch zu machen und ihr ein Muttertagsgeschenk zu ьberreichen. Es handelt sich um einen Ehrentag, der erst im 20. Jahrhundert verbreitet wurde. In vielen Lдndern wurde er tatsдchlich vor allem von Blumengeschдften und Blumenhдndlern etabliert.
