Der Vatertag in der Schweiz

In der Schweiz gibt es keinen offiziellen Vatertag. Am ersten Sonntag im Juni wird jedoch der inoffizielle Schweizer Vätertag gefeiert, im Jahr 2017 am Sonntag, den 4. Juni 2017. Er soll das väterliche Engagement betonen und vor allem ein Vater-Kind-Tag sein.

Im Schweizer Kanton Tessin wird der Vatertag dagegen am 19. März 2017 gefeiert - wie im angrenzenden Italien.

Wann ist Vatertag in der Schweiz?*

Der Schweizer Vätertag wird - anders als der Vatertag in Deutschland - am ersten Sonntag im Juni gefeiert, im Jahr 2017 also am 4. Juni. Die Termine der folgenden Jahre sind:

Schweizer Vätertag 2018: 3. Juni 2018

Schweizer Vätertag 2019: 2. Juni 2019

Im Tessin wird der Vatertag allerdings wie der Vatertag in Italien bereits am Josefstag, also am 19. März 2017 gefeiert.

Der Schweizer Vätertag ist kein gesetzlicher Feiertag. Er fällt aber immer auf einen Sonntag und ist damit den Feiertagen gleichgestellt.

Oder dass meine Familie mir an 364 Tagen im Jahr nicht dankt oder mich nicht liebt.

Ein Kind, das sich der Elternliebe sicher ist, bei allem was es tut, wird sich zutrauen, neue Wege zu gehen und zu entdecken. Wird seine eigene Geschichte finden.

Kleider machen Leute, heißt es so schön.

Ich glaube, es gibt keinen schöneren Stoff, um Liebe sichtbar zu machen, als diesen, den ich im Rahmen der #byGrazielaBlogtour vernähen durfte.

Und als Hannoveranerin kommt mir natürlich sofort das Musical von Heinz Rudolf Kunze in den Sinn, das eben jenen Titel trägt:

Timor Leste celebrate Mother’s Day on 3rd November each year. Panama also celebrate on 8th December which is the day of Feast of the Immaculate Conception. Indonesia also celebrate Mother’s Day on 22nd December of each year.

Many Australians celebrate Mother’s Day by showing their appreciation for the achievements and efforts of mothers and mother figures. It is annually observed in Australia on the second Sunday of May.

What Do People Do?

Many people appreciate their mothers or mother figures, which include stepmothers, relatives, guardians (eg. foster mothers), and close family friends. Some organizations have Mother’s Day patrons who work together with the media and general community to raise awareness on Mother’s Day events that aim to raise funds for charitable or non-profit causes.

Mother’s Day events and activities may include:

Mother’s Day is not a federal holiday but it is on a Sunday, when many organizations, schools, and government offices are closed. Public transport systems run to their normal Sunday schedules and restaurants or cafes may be busier than usual as some people take their mothers out for a treat. Shops and department stores may also be busy in areas where there is Sunday trading.

Background

Many Australians follow the Mother’s Day traditions that stem from observances in countries such as the United States and the United Kingdom. The Mother’s Day date in Australia is the same as the date observed in the United States, which is the second Sunday of May each year. However, it is an Australian who is credited with having started the tradition of giving gifts on Mother's Day: Janet Heyden, a resident of Leichhardt Sydney, started a campaign in 1924 to collect gifts for lonely aged mothers.

Flowers, chocolates, and cards are popular gifts to symbolize one’s love and appreciation for their mother or mother figure. The carnation is a type of flower that is particularly symbolic of Mother’s Day for some people. Its importance as a Mother’s Day symbol is linked to Anna Jarvis, who is believed to have sent white carnations for a Mother’s Day service in West Virginia, in the United States, on May 10, 1908.

Muttertag weltweit – von wegen zweiter Maisonntag

Mother's Day, Fête des mères, Día de la Madre: Der Muttertag - in Deutschland am kommenden Sonntag - scheint ein weltweites Phänomen. Doch das Datum und die Bräuche variieren. Eine kleine Weltreise mit Stationen in Mexiko, Israel, Indonesien und Neuseeland.

Berlin (dpa) - Muttertag? Ist immer am zweiten Sonntag im Mai, oder? Nein - das ist nicht überall auf der Welt so. In GROSSBRITANNIEN etwa war er schon im März. Dort wird er am vierten Sonntag der Fastenzeit vor Ostern gefeiert. In FRANKREICH, aber auch in SCHWEDEN wird der Muttertag am letzten Sonntag im Mai begangen, im Falle von Pfingsten zu diesem Datum rutscht er aber auf den ersten Junisonntag.

Auf der iberischen Halbinsel - also in SPANIEN und PORTUGAL - war bereits vergangenen Sonntag Muttertag - ebenso in UNGARN oder SÜDAFRIKA. Einige Promis gratulierten ihrer Mama also am ersten Maisonntag: Der portugiesische Fußball-Star Cristiano Ronaldo twitterte ein Bild von sich und Mutter mit Herzchen und «Love You».

DEUTSCHLAND, aber auch ÖSTERREICH, die SCHWEIZ, die NIEDERLANDE, DÄNEMARK, FINNLAND, die TÜRKEI, JAPAN, KANADA, AUSTRALIEN, BRASILIEN oder auch ITALIEN halten sich beim Muttertag an die Vereinigten Staaten und den zweiten Sonntag im Mai.

Zur «festa della mamma» empfahl die italienische Zeitung «La Repubblica» zum Beispiel diesmal, statt nur Blumen, Schokolade oder Parfüm nachhaltige Kosmetikprodukte zu verschenken.

In den USA wird der Tag auf die Bemühungen der Methodistin und Frauenrechtlerin Anna Marie Jarvis aus West Virginia zurückgeführt, die sich nach dem Tod ihrer Mutter dafür einsetzte, einen solchen Tag zur Anerkennung von Müttern zu schaffen. Präsident Woodrow Wilson ließ ein entsprechendes Gesetz 1914 in Kraft treten, in den Jahren darauf kommerzialisierte sich der Muttertag rasch.

Und sonst? Während man in NEUSEELAND sonst meistens den Traditionen der ehemaligen Kolonialmacht Großbritannien folgt, wird der Muttertag wie in den USA gefeiert: am zweiten Sonntag im Mai. Dafür werden in den Tagen zuvor in Kindergärten und Schulen fleißig Karten gebastelt.

Wie anderswo machen an dem Tag auch Väter ihren Frauen mit Blumen eine Freude. Es geht aber auch anders: Viele Cafés haben einen «Mother's Day Brunch» im Angebot - ein spätes Frühstück, zu dem sich Mütter auch ohne ihre Familien treffen, dafür aber gern gemeinsam das eine oder andere alkoholische Getränk zu sich nehmen.

In ISRAEL wird inzwischen im Sinne der Gleichberechtigung statt dem Muttertag der «Tag der Familie» gefeiert. Nach dem jüdischen Kalender wird er am 30. des Monats Schwat (Januar/Februar) begangen, der 2017 auf den 26. Februar fiel. Es handelt sich um den Todestag (nach hebräischem Kalender) der zionistischen Aktivistin Henrietta Szold, Gründerin der Frauenorganisation Hadassah. Am Tag der Familie feiern Israelis die Bindung an engste Angehörige. Kinder bringen Bilder ihrer Familie in die Schule und schicken ihren Eltern Grußkarten.

In THAILAND ist Muttertag dagegen am 12. August - dem Geburtstag der langjährigen Königin Sirikit (84), die ihren Titel weiterhin trägt, auch wenn ihr Ehemann Bhumibol im vergangenen Jahr starb. Seit 1976 ist dies auch ein nationaler Feiertag.

Die Thais feiern also sowohl die Königin (als eine Art Mutter der Nation) als auch die eigene Mutter. Klassisches Geschenk sind Jasmin-Blumen, als Symbol für bedingungslose Liebe. In Thailand gibt es ein eigens komponiertes Muttertagslied, das am 12. August zusammen mit der Hymne des Königshauses gespielt wird.

In INDONESIEN, dem bevölkerungsreichsten muslimischen Land der Welt, wird der Muttertag am 22. Dezember begangen - zur Erinnerung an das Jahr 1928, als an dem Tag mehr als zwei Dutzend feministische Gruppen in Jakarta den ersten großen Frauenkongress abhielten. Der Muttertag (indonesisch: Hari Ibu) ist in dem Insel-Staat kein arbeitsfreier Tag. Groß gefeiert wird nicht, aber Geschenke gibt es schon. Manche Frauen tragen eigens eine traditionelle Bluse namens Kebaya.

In MEXIKO stand der Muttertag diesen Mittwoch an, wie immer am 10. Mai. Er geht dort auf eine Initiative der Zeitung «Excélsior» zurück, die 1922 einen Feiertag für Mütter forderte. Sie reagierte wohl auf Feministinnen im Bundesstaat Yucatán, die Frauen über Familienplanung und Verhütungsmethoden informierten. Viele Firmen geben Müttern den halben Tag frei - und Schulen organisieren Feiern für die Mütter. Seit Jahren gehen an diesem Tag auch Mütter von Verschleppten auf die Straße, um auf das Schicksal ihrer Kinder aufmerksam zu machen. In Mexiko gelten mehr als 30 000 Menschen als vermisst.

Am Muttertag werden aber auch manche harte Jungs ganz weich. Polizei und Geheimdienste sollen schon mehrfach Verbrechern auf die Spur gekommen sein, weil diese am Muttertag ihre madre anriefen oder zu Hause ein Geschenk vorbeibrachten.
